Training
Amputee Football is a fast, highly skilled and competitive game. Players of the game demonstrate incredible levels of technical ability and fitness on par with their 11-a-side, able-bodied, counterparts.
The IAFA International squad meet once every four weeks to train at their National Training Centre at the University of Limerick's Sports Campus. Squad members are monitored through fitness testing and participate in coaching sessions, strength and conditioning sessions and training matches over the course of each training weekend.
Each member of the International squad has also received a personalized training programme and players train individually between 5 and 6 times a week, improving both their fitness, stamina and speed, as well as, their technical ability and ball control.
Players also meet locally for group training sessions.
The IAFA have a highly skilled and experienced backroom team of coaches, physiotherapists and mentors in place to support the squad in every aspect of their training.
New players are always welcome. If you would like to attend a group training session or join us in Limerick to see the game in action please visit the Contact Us section of our website or find us on Facebook.
